about your road map to a next level opportunity as well as answer any questions you may have.

COACHABILITY

College coaches want players who are coachable because they don’t have time to waste. Coaches want players who are dynamic and willing to buy into what is best for the team. Are you the player that is willing to be coached and is ready to put the team first?

BALL HANDLING

Can you handle the basketball under pressure? If you can relieve pressure, create for a teammate, you will add a lot of value to your game. If you’re constantly turning it over, you will be seen as a liability. Clean that up!

POSITION BASKETBALL

Can you play multiple positions? If you can show that you can play at 2 or 3 different positions, and play them at a high level, you will increase your chances of being recruited.

REBOUNDING

Everyone on the floor must be able to rebound. If you’re a post player, rebounding is a must! As a guard, you can add value to your stock by being able help on the glass. When the shot goes up, are you watching the action or putting a body on someone and going after the board?

BODY LANGUAGE

How are you controlling your emotions when things aren’t going your way? College coaches want to see how you react to a bad call, a miserable shooting night, when your team is struggling, etc. It is essential that you have good body language, always competing, and are being a good teammate. These are the types of players that college coaches want on their team.

The Little Things

Never discount the little things in the game. Remember, what are you putting on tape? Are you cutting hard, setting good screens, spacing the floor, helping on defense, diving on the floor? Do it all and you’ll stand out from the crowd.

DEFENSIVE EXECUTION

As a player, you can increase your stock dramatically by showing coaches that you can be an asset on the defensive side of the floor. You should be communicating at a high level, showing effort, having active hands, and playing the passing lanes.

Weight Room

Can you physically play at the next level? With the transfer portal in play, a high school kid must put in work inside the weight room. Develop your body for the level you’re trying to play at. Do not take this lightly!
